David Uzzardi
Photography represents my desire to focus in on the ordinary moments in life and elevate them to a new level of significance. My photographs bring these moments to the surface, out into the open where they can be recognized, evaluated and emotionalized. I seek to emphasize the small details and nuances of people in order to capture something much more elusive and transcendent then what appears to be merely everyday life. My photographs of people shopping, waiting, hurting, concentrating, smiling and etc. are all part of my never-ending passion to find harmony between people and their environment. This harmony that I strive to illuminate is not always positive. It is sometimes a struggle for harmony, and even a harmony with the unpleasant. Regardless of its degree, this harmony represents an existence, a real life, an emotion. While I focus in on the street aspect of everyday life, my work represents an adverse range of civilization. My subject matter includes all levels of social life, all parts of the United States and all ethnicities. Within the streets there are many layers of environment, nature, humans and emotions which are often overlooked. I am overtaken by the emotions of my subject matter and hope to share this emotion and its landscape with my audience.
