Skateboarding has been cause for me to explore for the past 14 years;
initially in the form of shortcuts through the woods to find the
nearest paved parking lot, to marble plazas on the other side of the world.
The desire to explore has become stronger over the years and photography
quenches this appetite for exploration in a way that compliments skate
travel and skateboarding in general (in the way that one interprets and
appropriates their urban environment and all that pointing-out-of-the-obvious stuff, that’s been typed out too many times before). I grew up in the Okanagan Valley of British Columbia, and I’ve lived in San Francisco ever since the Clubhouse stole my membership money on a cold winter’s day. I’ve been shooting photos for the past 7 years – I like lots of contrast and asymmetrical balance in photos and beyond that I’m still exploring.
